Kevin R. Wright

Kevin started his singing career at the early age of  2 singing a solo in Church. 

He continued singing through other outlets such as Choirs and Theatrical Shows most of his childhood. He started working professionally at 15 throughout Florida in many theatrical shows and ended up in NYC at 19 yrs old. 

 

Kevin starred on Broadway as Marius in “Les MIserables” with Debbie Gibson.  

He starred Off Broadway at the famous Sullivan Street Theatre in “The Fantasticks” as Matt and also in the World Premiere of 

“ Bring in the Morning” at the Variety Arts Theatre and the first book musical performed at Harlems famous Apollo Theatre with Lauren Hill. 

He also starred Off Broadway as Bob in “The Coconuts” and Danny in “Baby” at Manhattan Rep Theatre. 

 

National touring shows were also a big part of his life having toured as Jack in the First National Tour of  “Into the Woods”, Peter in the 25th Anniversary of “Jesus Christ Superstar” with Ted Neely and Carl Anderson ,Irene Cara and Dennis DeYoung.

 

“Music of the Night” as Principal soloist with Betty Buckley , also “Joseph and the amazing technicolor Dreamcoat” .

 

Regionally he starred with George Wendt of Cheers as Hero in “A Funny Thing happened on the way to the Forum” at the famous WilliamsTown Theatre, “Rhythm Ranch” at Papermill Playhouse directed by Susan Stroman. , and Huck in “Big River” at Maine State Music Theatre. He spent a summer at the Eugene Oneil working on a new musical by Harold Mastoff  called “Paramore”.

 

Over many years Kevin also built quite a book of National Commercials from 

Mc Donalds, Juicy Fruit, Coke, Valvoline Oil, and 2 spots for Folgers coffee to name a few.

 

After 15 years of working non stop in Theatre Kevin needed another outlet which is what led to his 13 years as Tenor in the World Famous Accapella Recording Group “Rockapella” releasing over 10 Cds and touring World Wide from Singapore, China, Japan, Korea, Gremany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain and all 50 United States. Some of the highlights being Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade, Carnegie Hall, Boston Pops guests, and performances with Steven Tyler. 

He is now happy and excited to bring his experiences as a singer and performer to his students at The Wright Step!
